CAUSTIC RECOVERY UNIT (CRU)

Mercerization is a process in the pretreatment of fabrics used to enhance luster, softness and other properties. Large quantities of caustic soda are utilized in mercerization and responsible mills will do everything possible to minimize environmental impact and waste.

One of the ways we do this is with our state-of-the-art Caustic Recovery Unit, which has a capacity of 6000 liters per hour. Caustic Recovery re-concentrates weak lye generated from the mercerizing machine in a multistage evaporation plant. Caustic soda and distilled water are recycled instead of being treated as waste. It allows us to recover caustic for reuse in our production, reducing the load on our Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and reducing waste.
