Karachi, Pakistan – October 25, 2016 – Artistic Fabric & Garment Industries (AFGI) is proud to announce its new state-of-the-art factory is certified as LEED Silver through the Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design program. The certification program by the United State Green Building Council (USGBC) assures that "no matter where a LEED project is, its certification is an achievement in green building that’s recognized around the world."
"We are proud that shortly after getting GRS certification for our Recycling plant, we have now been awarded LEED Certification for one of our flagship garment factories,” says Hasan Javed, Executive Director of AFGI. “AFGI continues to take tangible steps towards reducing our carbon footprint and in moving towards a greener future with the strength of our vertical setup."
The certification of this factory is only one facet of AFGI’s holistic approach to sustainability, which includes reducing water usage, “green” garment finishes, and fabrics made from post-consumer waste clothing and plastic bottles. Two additional facilities are currently in the process of being certified by LEED.
