Karachi, Pakistan – April 11, 2016 – Artistic Fabric & Garment Industries (AFGI) is proud to introduce a special collaboration with denim designer-maker Roy Slaper. The Roy x AFGI Collection was designed and developed on-site by Roy in the AFGI factory in Karachi, Pakistan. Garments from the exclusive Collection will not be for sale but will be used to showcase AFGI’s new fabric developments and inspire designers working in the denim industry around the globe.
Roy Slaper is known by denimheads for his meticulously made jeans-- each pair cut and sewn by his own hands using vintage sewing machines in his workshop in Oakland, California. For this collaboration he shows off his design and development expertise while AFGI’s fully-vertical factory produces the actual garments.
“We have always respected Roy's work and are really excited to share what we have made with the world,” says Henry Wong, Director of Product Development and Marketing at AFGI. “The Collection includes men’s and women’s jeans he designed here to highlight our extensive fabric range. He worked with denims that have authentic character and finishes, in both stretch and non-stretch, as well as fashion super-stretches that are suitable for activewear styles and skinnier silhouettes. There’s even an indigo ‘Judogi’ uniform that Roy designed as a playful nod to the martial art. The successful exchange of creativity and culture made this possible and the work became something fun. ”
Come preview the collection at Kingpins Amsterdam and see the full presentation at Kingpins New York and Denim PV in Barcelona. All other viewings are by appointment only.
